The Third Party

Dry Bones cartoon, Kirschen, America, Donald Trump, Republicans, elections, politics, Presidential campaign, third party,
I've got two theories :

1.He Can Do It!
The Republican-controlled U.S. Congress has been unable (or unwilling) to oppose the dictates of a power-grabbing President. This spells the end of the voters’ confidence in Republican promises, opening the door for a new second party (led by Donald Trump?) and relegating the weak and ineffective Republicans to third party status.

2.He Doesn't Want to Do It!
Trump is having more fun and attention than he ever dreamed of having, but if he were elected President it would be a disaster to his financial empire and his career as an incredible businessman. As President he’d have to work around the clock for peanuts. The millions that he could grab as President that lure his opponents, Democrat and Republican alike would be (for him) just chump change, so although he’s enjoying the campaign, he really doesn’t want to win the Presidency.

My advice: support the Dry Bones Academy of Cartoon Advocacy. We need your support, and we'll do what we promise to do. We'll fight against antisemitism and the ignoring of the plight of Christian communities in Africa and the Middle East. And we will train a new generation of cartoonists to carry on the fight!

We blew up the Ma'ariv Bridge today. Everyone figures we are in for years of traffic snarls. The authorities say that setting up the light rail system for Tel Aviv will take six years to complete. Nobody believes them. My bet is nine years.

Matisyahu Says Spanish Reggae Fest Canceled Show Over Refusal to Support BDS

Jewish reggae star Matisyahu responded on Monday to being dropped by Spain’s Rototom reggae festival saying organizers’ efforts to pressure him to endorse the anti-Israel boycott, divestment and sanctions movement were “appalling and offensive.”

Days after the news broke that Matisyahu’s spot in the festival’s lineup was canceled, the internationally renowned singer informed fans via his Facebook page that Rototom organizers “wanted me to write a letter, or make a video, stating my positions on Zionism and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to pacify the BDS people.” -more

Underground Movement

Dry Bones cartoon, Kirschen, New York, NYC,treasure, sewer,
According to Reuters:
(Reuters) -Three men arrested following treasure hunt in New York City's sewers

Three men hoping to find valuables in New York City's extensive sewer system were facing criminal charges for climbing through a manhole cover and spending several hours on a treasure hunt in the muck-filled caverns, authorities said on Friday.< br />A spokesman for the New York City Police Department said Marquise Evans, 21, dislodged a manhole cover on a street in Brooklyn late on Wednesday and allowed two other men to climb inside.
Witnesses called police, and responding officers and firefighters, outfitted in protective garb, followed the men but could not locate the pair, the spokesman said.

About four hours later, the two men, identified as David Hannibal, 45, and Damion Nieves, 35, emerged and were taken into custody, police said. The men had taken metal detectors with them into the sewer in the hopes of finding valuables flushed or dropped down toilets and drain pipes, the spokesman said. They came up empty-handed, police said.
New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton told reporters he didn't know what specifically the men had hoped to find.

“I know, damn sure, I wouldn’t be crawling through the sewers of New York, but these three evidently were," he said.Evans, a trainee at the city Department of Environmental Protection, which maintains the sewer system, was facing a string of charges including reckless endangerment and criminal facilitation. It was unclear how he intended to plead to the charges or if he had obtained an attorney. He could not immediately be reached for comment.

He has been suspended from the Department of Environmental Protection pending an investigation, the agency told the New York Times.Hannibal and Nieves were facing charges of criminal trespassing. They could not immediately be reached for comment via social media accounts.

There are more than 6,000 miles (9,500 km)of sewer pipes below New York City's five boroughs. Over 1 billion gallons of wastewater moves through the system each day, according to the Department of Environmental Protection.-more

The Academy Backdrop

The Dry Bones Academy of Cartoon Advocacy and Activism is beginning to take shape. As you probably know it will train and empower a new generation of students to survive and combat the antisemitic and anti-western forces that have bullied their way to control Western campuses with lies, libels, and Boycott, Divest, and Sanction propaganda. We wanted to let you know what kind of progress we’ve been making. The academy team is hard at work. The team includes Brian the tech guy, Sali, the LSW (Long Suffering Wife) and me, the guy who has been writing and drawing the award-winning daily Dry Bones cartoons non-stop since January 1973. Because the academy is online, students from around the world will be able to sit across the table from me as I teach them my tips, tricks, strategies, and secrets. We’ve decided that the table I'll be seated at will be our dining room table, behind which we'd want to hang a cartoon backdrop.
Here is the cartoon that I drew for the giant backdrop:

The LSW, an artist and fantastic colorist, guided my choice of colors and then worked with a Tel Aviv printer to produce the backdrop (and a set of "Shuldig" T-Shirts for me to wear.) When the print work was done she shlepped everything back home. Brian, the tech guy, and Sali then had to hang the giant cartoon backdrop on the wall in front of one of her large and gorgeous paintings. They held the cloth backdrop up to see if it was the right size, in front of where I would sit (at what had once been her beautiful dining room table. Brian and Sali, stood on a ledge behind the former dining room table

Below: Brian and Sali then attached the cloth backdrop to hang from a curtain rod. Sali had already "set the table" with Academy stuff.

Below: Brian attaches the backdrop to the ceiling with transparent plastic fishing line while "yours truly" hopes no one falls as he relaxes and continues to take snapshots of other people working.

Below: Unhappy with the fabric folds that seem to be appearing because of their curtain rod construction, Brian and Sal go off and return with a length of wood and decide on how to attach the hanging backdrop to the wood, instead of to the curtain rod.

Below: With the backdrop hanging nicely, Brian and Sali set up the lighting, cables, the microphones, tripods, and their various video cameras. All that is left is to jam me into one of the T-Shirts that Sal has had printed and to see how it all looks.

With your help we can get the first course up and functioning in four to five months. If you’d like to be part of this exciting venture, check out the Dry Bones Academy at: http://igg.me/at/drybones, or write to me at kirschen@drybonesacademy.com

Royal Screw-up

Dry Bones cartoon, Kirschen, Dry Bones, Israel, Sinai, King Solomon, Israel, Gaza, terrorists, terrorism, Gush Katif, Palestine, Palestinians, occupation, withdrawal,
I often use King Solomon to represent the actions of the Israeli government. Especially when it screws up!

According to Breaking Israel News:

"Ten years after the Israeli disengagement from Gaza, thousands of former Gush Katif residents are still struggling to rebuild their lives.

Gush Katif, which was a bloc made up of 21 Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip, was evacuated as part of the 2005 Israeli disengagement plan from Gaza, intended to help pave the way to peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

8,500 people lived and worked in Gush Katif, mainly in agriculture, with hundreds of acres of hothouses that provided a large portion of the country’s crops and flowers. Every single resident were forced out, with their homes and communities destroyed during the withdrawal.

In honor of the 10th anniversary of this difficult event in Israel’s history, the International Young Israel Movement is running a special program this summer. Called 10 Buses for 10 Years, the program brings visitors to meet and speak with former Gush Katif residents, tour the communities where they have rebuilt their homes and lives, and visit the Gush Katif Center, a museum dedicated to the history of the bloc.

Many former residents are still in dire need of help, both material and emotional, but with the passage of time, their plight has faded from public awareness. Yet a large number of them remain even today, 10 years later, without permanent homes or steady income.

Part of the reason why the expulsion is so difficult to cope with, said Oreet Segal, who lived in the Gush Katif community of Ganei Tal, was the loss of the singular spirit of the communities there. “It was a Garden of Eden hiding in the corner of this country,” she said. For kids, especially, “It was an idyllic place to grow up.”-more

The New America

common enemy : Dry Bones cartoon, Kirschen, Obama,Kerry, appeasement, Terrorism, Terror, negotiations,Iran, Israel, terror, terrorism, PLO, Palestinian, America,
According to the Associated Press (Aug 04):
US Likely to Intervene in Palestinian Terror Case

"The U.S. government is moving closer to intervening in a high-stakes civil case over deadly Palestinian terror attacks as officials met Tuesday with victims' families to discuss concerns over a jury verdict worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The meeting with representatives from the Justice and State departments came amid objections from a lawyer for the plaintiffs, who said the United States was "considering putting a thumb on the scale" because the Palestinian government opposes the jury verdict.

"The Palestinians got a fair trial. The judgment was foreseeable, and they can afford to pay it over time," attorney Kent Yalowitz said in an interview.

At issue is $218.5 million in damages awarded by a New York jury in February for attacks that killed 33 people and wounded hundreds more — a penalty that lawyers say would be automatically tripled under the U.S. Anti-Terrorism Act, but that the State Department fears could weaken the stability of the Palestinian government." -more

the Smiling Optimist

common enemy : Dry Bones cartoon, Kirschen, optimism, Iran,Shuldig, Israel, war, violence, Tehran, Mideast, Middle East,
The news has been really depressing.Jewish soldiers beat settlers, settler terrorists murder an Arab baby, the violent knife attack against the gay parade in Jerusalem by an ultra-orthodox Jew, the disastrous appeasement of Iran, the spreading success of ISIS, the continued toying with Jonathan Pollard. Everything seems to be getting worse! Sigh! I wanted to be optimistic but couldn't, the result was today's effort.
